Picture this: you've just fought off a zombie or two that wandered too close to your base, and you see they've dropped something strange. So you move closer and see that it's rotten flesh! At first, you may think it's useless, but you can do a few things with rotten flesh.

While it may not be the most practical or sought-after resource in the game, it can help you in a pinch. Here are three things you can do with rotten flesh in Minecraft.

How Do You Get It?

To get rotten flesh, you'll need to kill some zombies! They will drop one or two pieces of rotten flesh after being defeated. Zombie villagers and zombie horses also drop rotten flesh.

What Can You Do with It?

1. Eat It

So, first things first: you can eat rotten flesh, but that doesn't mean you should. Although rotten flesh will heal your hunger by two points, it has a high chance of inflicting hunger afterward for thirty seconds. As a result, it can make you hungrier than you were to begin with!

If you're into unlocking different advancements in Minecraft, consider some rotten flesh-eating challenges!

First, there's the "Husbandry" advancement you get the first time you eat something in the game. You'll achieve this if you eat rotten flesh as your first Minecraft meal!

Another advancement you can snag with rotten flesh is the "Balanced Diet" advancement. To achieve this, you must consume every edible item in the game, including rotten flesh! This advancement may take some time since you must find every edible item in the game. However, once you achieve this advancement, you can say you've eaten everything in Minecraft!

2. Trade It

If you're killing a lot of zombies, you may notice a ton of rotten flesh in your inventory! Let's be honest: you probably want to eliminate it. But don't throw it over a cliff or into a pit of lava just yet!

Did you know you can trade rotten flesh for emeralds? If you have thirty-two rotten flesh, trade it for an emerald next time you're in a village!

You can kill zombies and save the rotten flesh for some emeralds, which you can then use to buy items that are much more useful than rotten flesh.

3. Tame Wolves

This is the most exciting use for rotten flesh! Wolves must have much stronger stomachs than players since they aren't negatively affected by eating rotten flesh. Because of this, you can use rotten flesh to tame and feed wolves! Tamed wolves are great companions that provide protection from hostile mobs.

If you're breeding wolves, you can use rotten flesh to help you! If you have a tame baby wolf, feeding it rotten flesh will cause it to grow 10% faster.

Final Thoughts

While rotten flesh may not be the most desirable resource in the game, it definitely has its place! If you have a lot of rotten flesh in your inventory, keep it. Consider trading it, taming some wolves, or eating it if you're really in trouble. Happy playing!
