There are a ton of biomes you can spawn in when playing Minecraft, which can make deciding which biome to choose for your house a bit tricky! There are several factors to consider before selecting a biome: material availability, space, and safety. With these factors in mind, I've compiled the top five best biomes to build your house in Minecraft.

1. Meadow

The meadow biome is an excellent all-around biome to build your house or base. It's one of the easier biomes to survive in, making it perfect for beginners. In addition, there is a lot of open space to build a house, farm, or whatever else you might be planning.

While there aren't a lot of trees in the meadow, this biome often spawns next to forest biomes where you can collect materials. Unfortunately, lacking trees means no place for hostile mobs to hide or sneak up on you.

Finally, tons of friendly mobs spawn here! Rabbits, cows, and pigs are some of the mobs you could find. Horses also generate in meadows and can make traversing your Minecraft world much faster.

2. Taiga

If you're looking for a biome with seemingly limitless wood to build with, Taiga is the way to go! However, space is more limited than in other biomes on this list due to the dense forestry and mountains.

You may need to cut some trees down to make room for your builds, but the sheer number of resources makes up for this drawback. The only things to be cautious of in this biome are hostile mobs.

With dense foliage blocking out the sun in some places, creepers and skeletons could hide behind trees and lurk in shadows!

3. Forest

The Forest biome may be ideal for beginner players to build their houses! Like the taiga biome, the forest biome has many resources that will make building your home quicker.

Wood, water, grass, and flowers are just some resources you can find here. In addition, passive mobs like sheep, chickens, cows, and pigs spawn here, making it easy to obtain meat or herd the animals and start a farm.

Just be aware that getting lost in this biome can be easy since the trees look the same and there are few distinctive landmarks. Mark your path by stripping wood or placing blocks so you can find your way home!

4. Savanna

If you want a biome that will give you wide open spaces to build the house of your dreams, the Savanna biome is a great choice! Oak and acacia trees spawn here and provide solid building materials.

Villages often spawn in this biome, meaning you can seek refuge here and utilize the protection of their iron Golems. Just be sure to watch out for any pillager outposts. In addition, helpful, friendly mobs spawn in the savanna biome including horses and llamas. Horses can be used for faster travel, and llamas can be used as pack animals.

5. Snowy Taiga

While it may not seem like it based on appearances, the Snowy Taiga biome is a great place to build your house. Like the Taiga biome, there are trees aplenty that provide building materials for your shelter.

Wolves spawn in this biome, and you can tame one for protection and companionship. In addition, you can make snowballs for a quick projectile in a pinch to protect yourself against hostile mobs.

In this unique biome, there's even the chance that an igloo could spawn, giving you a great temporary shelter to use while you build your permanent house. Unfortunately, since this biome is cold, most water freezes into ice. So, to establish an irrigation system, you'll need to place torches close by to keep the water from freezing.

Final Thoughts

Of course, what you plan to build and do will influence what biome you choose to inhabit. There are several factors you should always consider when selecting a biome. If you keep in mind the overall safety, material and resource availability, and amount of space available in a biome, you'll be setting yourself up for success!
